    This book has been updated from the Kindle E-book version on several pages and now includes enlarged pictures of tables. Hyperlinks and QR codes have also been inserted to allow access to websites in response to requests from readers of the first edition. These include YouTube demonstration links. Website addresses have been checked to April 2017. The author has included many pictures and diagrams to make the book easier to understand. Several technical books for study are available but often difficult to understand. The author is a well travelled, experienced musician and bandleader from trio to full orchestra with the Plato Award for creative use of technology. He is a registered computer programmer with electrical qualifications. The author uses DMX lighting and shares his experiences of using and controlling DMX devices explaining in simple terms with illustrations in a friendly understandable manner. The reader can easily reference knowledge required and skip advanced passages. Often handbooks are difficult to follow and the author has simplified and explained many of the difficulties encountered including setting dipswitches and controlling DMX via MIDI from e.g. a keyboard or a guitar. Several tables and lists are included to help identify notes and use them to control DMX. The latest wireless and IPad and Android devices are discussed as well as references to available software and USB interfaces. This book also contains helpful advice about insurance and how to operate safely without damage to equipment or operator. References are made to voltages and fixtures on different continents with plug illustrations and calculations of power. requirements.
